§ 16-2. Definitions.

  • For the purposes of this chapter, the following words, terms and phrases shall have the following meanings respectively ascribed to them [in this section]:

    Harboring: Permitting a situation to exist either by establishing it or by failing to take steps promptly to terminate it.

    Landlord: A person, including a corporation, who leases a residential unit to a tenant or who permits a tenant to use or occupy a residential unit owned or controlled by the person granting such permission, without regard to whether the tenant is charged rental for occupancy or use of the premises.

    Neighbors: Any persons residing sufficiently near to a residential unit, as defined herein, to be disturbed by noisome activities thereon.

    Residential unit: Place of residence, such as a house, apartment, mobile home, basement house, travel trailer, tent or other structure used for residential purposes, regardless of whether or not it is slept in during nighttime hours.

    Tenant: Any person who, singly or with another, uses a residential unit with the consent of a landlord.
