§ 16-9. Penalty.

If the notice described above in section 16-8 is not complied with by the responsible person within the time prescribed, such person is in violation of this section [chapter] and is guilty of a misdemeanor and may be punished by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00) or imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days, or both, plus the costs of prosecution in either case.
