§ 22-21. Manner of planking designated.

  • When railroad or railway companies are required by the council to plank their street crossings and approaches thereto, such planking shall be done in the following manner:

    All such crossings, and their approaches thereto for at least two (2) feet, shall be planked by three-inch planks for the full width of the streets. Such planking shall be placed between all tracks, at such crossings, which are not more than thirty (30) feet apart. Such plankings shall be securely fastened. The space between the rails for the full width of the streets shall be covered with planks of such thickness that the upper surface thereof shall be level with the surface of the rails. On both sides of the rails, there shall be laid planks at least eight (8) inches wide which shall not be so placed that there is more than two (2) inches space on both sides of the rail between the rail and the planking.
