§ 6-51. Disposition of unclaimed or infected animals.

(a)

It shall be duty of the animal control authority to keep all impounded animals for a period of at least five (5) days, unless they are redeemed under this division. If at the expiration of five (5) days from the date of notice to the owner such animal shall not have been redeemed, it may be destroyed by or under the supervision of the animal control authority.

(b)

The animal control authority may sell unclaimed animals which are not rabid, for prices it deems reasonable, to third parties, and shall report and turn the proceeds of such sales over to the city.
